NDMMCC Annual Christmas Luncheon

2025 has just zoomed by, and now it is December and Christmas Party time.

A big thank you to Rick & Margaret for organising our luncheon at Springwood Golf Club. Nineteen members attended and we were all given a warm welcome by the staff who had set up a lovely table for us, and a small table for out raffle prizes. Margaret bought table decorations, and Denise knitted everyone a little Santa stocking with a chocolate in it. Christmas cards and small gifts were also exchanged.

A two-course meal was served. Beautifully presented baked vegies with turkey and ham, and either Christmas pudding or pavlova for dessert.
Also thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes, a special thank you to Fred Riley, who donated a laser-cut metal Morris Minor. Many tickets were purchased as we all wanted to win it, but Don & Pat McBrien were the winners. We were all so happy for Don and also a bit envious. (See photos)

Merry Christmas to all our members and their families. Our Event Co-ordinator will send members information regarding our January 2026 outing in the New Year.

Attendees:
Rick & Margaret, Stephen & Denise, Dennis & Lynda, Robert & Robin, Don & Pat, Kevin & Sue, Tony & Brenda, John & Alma, Yvon, Laurie, Jason.

Blackheath Gardens – November 2025

Again, another great outing for our Morrie Club to see the Rhododendrons at Blackheath.
We met in the car park at Penrith Panthers, then left in convoy along the M4. Rick & Margaret were waiting at Glenbrook and slid in behind Laurie.
We did get a bit separated along the Highway, but then all met up again at Blackheath Gardens, where the Rhododendrons were just beautiful (see photos).
We set up under a magnificent tree, and after lunch, the ladies checked out dress, book and antique shops. The men formed a circle and discussed all things related to cars.
Attendees: Rick & Margaret,Robert & Robin, Kevin & Sue, , Dennis & Lynda, Stephen & Denise, Yvan, Laurie

Pie in the Sky – October 2025

Under beautiful sunny skies, members met at McDonald’s McGraths Hill. We then all travelled to Berowra Waters Marina, where we had morning tea and conducted our raffle. Congratulations to our prize winners.
Back on the road, we were able to get all our cars onto the car ferry and then travel on the Pacific Hwy to Pie in the Sky.
Robert & Robin, being the first to arrive, secured us a couple of tables, and we queued to place our pie orders. Such a variety to choose from and very delicious.
The noise from the motor bikes as they left was overwhelming, but this did not dampen our conversations and the overall great vibe that the whole day had.
Attendees: Rick & Margaret, Robert & Robin, Dennis & Lynda, Stephen & Denise, Don & Pat, Kevin & Sue, Yvon, Jason, Lauren and Hayden & Barb (guests).Apologies: Tony & Brenda, John & Alma, Heather & Andrew.

All British Day

September 2025

We could not have asked for better weather – a perfect blue sky, the sun shining, and just a slight breeze. Ideal conditions to get our Morries out on the road, enjoy the day with fellow members, and chat with owners of other Morries and British cars.

Andrew and Stephen kept the BBQs sizzling, while Sue once again treated us to her famous Mars Bar slice – always a favourite!

As always, our raffle was well supported, and this time we also celebrated a very special contribution. Rick presented Heather with a bundle of books as a token of appreciation for her many years of service as Club Secretary. Heather has also given her time to events, raffles, and many other behind-the-scenes tasks. A heartfelt thank you to Heather for her dedication and generosity.

Naval Museum and AGM

August 2025

After everyone arrived on time at The Nepean Naval Museum Penrith, where we were given a lovely welcome by the volunteers, then with the tables and chairs sorted it makes for the perfect venue for our Meeting and AGM.

After the Meeting and before the AGM, we had a short break, Margaret had organised tea and coffee for us, and Sue made her very morish mars bar slice – most of us had at least two slices.

After the week of wet weather, we were blessed with a lovely sunny day. Stephen and Joe were able to get the BBQ started, and the smell of sausages and onions cooking got everyone outside in the sunshine, where a group photo was taken. We all enjoyed our sausage on a bun and maybe another ‘sneaky’ Mars bar slice.

Due to donations, a gift voucher from Robin and a beautiful framed art work of dried flowers from her garden made by Margaret, and a couple of other gifts, our raffle once again was well received. Heather, Sue, Karen & Robin were our winners.

Our next meeting is All British Day, Sunday 14 September.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY 2025

Events co-ordinator Steve Borg once again organised a “cracking” event for Club members at our annual Christmas in July.

Our 2024 CIJ at the Australian Brewery proved a good venue so tables were booked and invites sent.

Steve and Denise, Rick and Margaret once again worked their magic decorating the tables to give us all a warm and fuzzy feeling
celebrating Christmas in July in the Southern Hemisphere with appropriate weather conditions.

The food was good, service friendly and fairly swift and pretty soon everyone was tucking into a variety of delicious meals.
Lots of catching up after a bit of a break between get-togethers, mainly due to the weather and  it was heartwarming to hear lots of
reminiscing and talk of cars being restored, repaired, and problem solving which is ongoing on our older Moggies.

Rick advised that once again, a prize would be awarded for the best or most interesting Christmas garb.  A variety of interesting
items were on show, but none more interesting and “unattractive” than bad Santa (sorry Laurie).  See the photos attached to this report.
Not to be outdone, a very glittering Christmas tree arrived in the shape of Lynda with a stunning headdress made of tinsel.

Time to judge, and it was hard to split, so both Laurie and Lynda received the award.  Your name had to start with “L”!!!
apparently.Well done to everyone who got into the spirit.

Denise had knitted a whole family of snow people to place on the tables as decoration, lovely little knitted novelties.
Raffle time and once again Denise excelled putting together four prizes (one donated) and members were most generous in
purchasing tickets.    The lucky winners were:  Margaret, Heather, Lynda, and Robin.  The girls really cleaned up.

Great to catch up with Yvon, Karen, Sabina and Joe, Jason, Laurie, Robin and Robert, Pat and Don, Lynda and Dennis, Heather
Alma and John, Margaret and Rick and Denise and Steve.

Our next event is the Annual General Meeting on 24th August.  Keep that date free.  The meeting will be held at the Naval Museum in
Penrith.  Full details will be available in the near future.

MUSEUM OF FIRE & THE ROWERS CLUB PENRITH

April 2025

Not too sure if it was the lure of the MEGA EASTER RAFFLE, or our return to the Rowers Club for lunch, whatever the reason, Club members turned out in force to enjoy a lovely couple of hours in the sun, chatting, listening to that pesky fire engine siren, eating goodies, That pesky Fire Engine Siren non stop, and then the meeting, and of course the continuation of the Fire Engine Siren.

Did I mention the FES? It drove most of us nuts, however, the kids who were getting a ride were having a fantastic time.

A great roll up of Morries, Dennis, Karen, Tony, Jason, and Andrew (Mini)

Rick called the meeting to order and went through the usual reports etc, etc. Minutes will be sent out in due course with all the details.

One of the main topics was the visit to Lake Conjola to visit Janice and John Strachan, and of course, enjoy a weekend away. A few members indicated they will be attending on the weekend of 23rd and 24th May, and if you are interested and require details, please contact Rick.

A special thank you to all the members who contributed to the beautiful raffle prizes, and thanks to Denise for assembling the goodies and presenting them beautifully.

The big moment arrived, and the lucky winners are: 1st: Robin, 2nd Sue, 3rd: Margaret. Well done, enjoy all those Easter treats.

Wishing all our members and families are happy, peaceful and safe Easter.

Nurrangingy Reserve

Sunday 16 March 2025

Well one of the hottest days of the year and a very hot day for March, however nearly 20 members gathered, several with their Morries.

Stephen & Denise arrived 20 minutes early to find a table in the shade and good parking. Stephen directed cars in from the entrance to the reserve.

After a 30-minute meeting, raffle tickets were sold and the raffle drawn. Our winners were Margaret, Sue, Stephen & Laurie.

The men then gravitated to Dennis’ new electric Mini for a look and a chat. As the sun moved, we all moved our chairs and followed the shade. We all had a quick lunch, some bought coffees at the coffee van, and we left around 1pm as the heat was getting to us.

Lots of donations for next month’s Easter Raffle – Thank you very much – so come prepared to buy tickets on 13th April at our next meeting, Stephen will send the details to all members.

Today was the day to have car sashes on the windscreens,

We had a number of visitors ( Margaret thinks about 10) who came and spoke to the group who were all interested in the Morries sticking their heads under the bonnets asking questions, telling us of their experiences with the Morris, fantastic interaction with the owners.

Ford Model T group were also having a picnic and they came over to have a look too.

One particular visitor who lived in the Mt Druitt area owns a blue Morrie Ute, Stephen and I extended an invitation to him, to look at the website and if interested come along in April.

Also

The Merv Dunlop Memorial Trophy was presented to Stephen & Denise Borg for Outstanding Club Members 2024.

WORONORA DAM

NEPEAN DISTRICT MORRIS MINOR CAR CLUB INC. VISITS ‘THE SHIRE’

A well-coordinated event handled by Steve and Denise, Dennis and Lynda and Rick and Margaret.

A beautiful day dawned and members came from different directions to attend (some, who shall remain nameless, came from the North and the South).  At least you made it A & J!

A good turnout with Yvon, Karen, Laurie, Terry (and Terry’s family, Danica and Len), Heather, Robin and Robert, Alma and John, Dennis and Lynda, Rick and Margaret, Kevin and Sue, Andrew and new member Joe joining us for his first Club event.

Even more exciting, a great turnout for our cars, as evidenced by the photos. It was great to see the display of our much-loved little gems.

President Rick chaired a lively meeting with many matters discussed the outcome of which will be in the Minutes.

Then it was on to the barbeque for lunch with Laurie on the snags, Robert on the onions and mushrooms and Margaret on the bread rolls, and Rick and Dennis doing the President/Vice President job of supervising.  Very yummy everyone, hope you all enjoyed your lunch, and thanks to everyone who organised and helped.

Robin, Margaret, and Lynda produced some very delicious treats after the snags were devoured, with rocky road, chocolate cake, and home-baked biscuits.

The weather warmed up as the day progressed and it was time to say our goodbyes and head home.  Hope everyone had an enjoyable day and look forward to our next event in March.  Steve will send details via FB, website etc.

Cheers, Heather
